How should advertisement scenario change with rising number of internet users?

How longer will Social Media be the dominant form of advertising? Is it getting saturated? I certainly think yes. We need better sources of advertising according to our products. Targeting users on Social Media is not enough. 

Let’s take an example if you are the owner of a restaurant and you want to get started with social media. Now where would you first put money to advertise your restaurant? Is it Facebook or is it Yelp/Zomato. If I were looking for a place to eat I would search on Zomato rather than Facebook or Google. That is where the Ad should show up. Conversion Rates will be higher and also users prefer to see such advertisements more often.

Second Example, Spotify vs Social Media. If you are a music artist is conversion rate really high for a Facebok Promotion. No, because you would like to hear a new song only when are listening to music at the time. If the advertisements shows up when you are at office or when are in the middle of something else would you really bother to listen? No.

So what kind of promotions are still dominant on Social Media?

1. E-commerce: No Matter what you say you can’t find a better platform for e-commerce than social media. Specially Facebook and Pinterest since they are user dominated. 

2. Magazines: You can’t find all good content on one magazine. Thereby Social Media channels like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook still dominates user clicks for magazines.

3. Brands: No matter how longer you try ignoring, you eventually have to get your product or company on one of Social Media Platforms.

So where is this leading? From examples set we can see that Social Media is mostly an ecommerce, news and Brand Listing platform. Is Social Media getting saturated? Yes. Eventually it will. But you can’t ignore it because being on social media is as important as having a company office or your website. People will turn on to social media no matter what. But personally I prefer less advertisements showing up on my Feed. 

 

When will the world end according to NASA?
